Children took part in a four-day course run by Essex County Fire and Rescue Service to learn different skills needed to become a firefighter.
The Firebreak course taught them people different disciplines, and helped to improve their communication skills which involved them working in teams and problem solving.
The young squad all came from Basildon and Castle Point's Youth Development team.
They put on a fire-fighting display at Basildon Fire station for their friends and family to celebrate finishing the course.
The course demonstrated different skills which included a mock-up live rescue.
Pauline Clark, 54, from Rainham attended the event to watch grandson Connor Webster, 13 from Basildon get his certificate.
Miss Clark said: ““I am really proud of them of what they have achieved and hope that they all go on to be fire men and women.”
