THE annual Foulness Bike Ride will be going ahead on Sunday.
Starting off at Great Wakering Primary School at 9.30am, more than 1,000 riders are expected to get on their bicycles to head for the island, which normally has restricted access to the public.
Riders are being encouraged to raise money for RNLI Southend’s Lifeboat Boathouse Project, which is looking to secure funding to build a permanent structure on the shoreline for lifeboats to be sent out of.
It will be the 12th time the bike ride, which is organised by the Rotary Club of Thorpe Bay, has been run.
Entry costs £10 for Adults and £5 for children. Anyone interested in participating should visit thorpebayrotaryevents.co.uk.
