SHE may be glamorous, but Simone Green isn’t your classic model!

The 21-year-old, of Rayleigh Road, Eastwood, has made it into the Miss Essex final, but her main passion is her classical pianist training.

Simone is studying at the prestigious Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, in Greenwich, London, and says she entered the competition to promote classical music.

The former Seevic College student and Sweyne Park School pupil, said of the beauty contest: “I got in when one of the other girls dropped out and, already, I have started to pick up votes.

“The main reason I’m doing this is to publicise classical music, which is not very popular among young people.”

Simone entered the competition after her uncle, Barry, suggested it.

Voting began on February 7 and the winner could go on to represent the county and then the country, in the Miss World final.

Modelling is a far cry from Simone’s usual talents as she began singing, composing and playing the viola when she was just 12.

She emerged from Seevic with a clutch of A-levels and now devotes all her time to being an undergraduate at the £9,000-a-year college.

She added: “I have not told the college I am entering the beauty competition, but I will when I return next week when half term is over.”

Simone hopes to become a solo performer. So far her piano playing has landed her gigs for the charity Make a Wish concert and at a Women of the World concert last year.

She is now looking for a sponsor to help her on the campaign trail.
