POLICE and fire have launched a joint investigation to find the cause of a fire which destroyed a garage and upstairs flat.
The blaze started in the property on Victoria Avenue, Southend, at about 9.30pm on Saturday and crews spent four hours battling the flames.
Police are urging anyone with information or witnesses who were in the area prior to the fire to contact Ds Phil Smith at the Southend Serious Crime Team on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
