MOST brides-to-be spend the days before their wedding having manicures and fretting about table decorations.

However, Tracey Warburton’s build-up to her big day will involve travelling 1,000 miles by motorcycle in aid of two charities.

The 48-year-old, from Shoebury, will wed Mike Kingdon, 47, at Gretna Green in Scotland, after riding from Land’s End to John O’Groats over three days.

The receptionist, who works at Oakdene Autos in Basildon, is taking part in the fundraising challenge with friend Sarah Taylor, 35, from Southend, who works at Rayleigh railway station.

The friends are part of a 15-strong team from across the country, called E to E Nutters On Tour, who are tackling the distance after meeting three years ago.

They will be accompanied by their mascot rottweiler, Gus, and raise money for Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal and The Forces Children’s Trust.

Tracey said: “I have grown up with motorbikes and always had one, but I have never contemplated a challenge like this before.

“It’s going to be riding eight hours a day for three days straight. It sounds awful, but all of us are really looking forward to it.

“We feel really strongly about the Armed Forces and whatever we can do to help. It’s nothing compared with what they do for us – putting their lives on the line each day.

“This is going to be just a small token of our appreciation.”

The group hopes to raise at least £5,000, and wants to thank everyone who has donated so far.

Tracey added: “We thought it would be nice to get married on the way home after the challenge.

“Mike is not taking part, but we will be meeting at Gretna Green.

“It’s going to be quite a small ceremony and we are taking everything up in a car, including the dress, suits and the cake.

“It will be a nice way to round off such an amazing journey and we would urge everyone to donate if they can.

“All the money raised from the motorcycle challenge will be going to the two charities.”

The group will be starting the three-day challenge on June 4.
