A WOMAN from South Essex has been charged with perverting the course of justice in connection with the phone hacking scandal.
Cheryl Carter, 47 of Ramsden Heath, was the former personal assistant to News International chief executive Rebekah Brooks.
She has been charged with one count of perverting the course of justice.
