A MAN put out a blaze in his own kitchen.
The fire started in the kitchen of a flat in Argyll Road, Westcliff, at around 3pm on Sunday.
Firefighters from Southend station attended the scene but the quick-thinking tenant stepped in to kill the flames.
A spokesperson for Essex Fire and Rescue, said: "He did a very good job extinguishing the fire himself before firefighters arrived just to dampen down the scene."
There were no casualties and minimal damage was caused to the kitchen.
