A SELFLESS ten-year-old has raised hundreds of pounds for charity after his family was affected by cancer.

Kickboxer Taylor Burton was inspired to raise money for Cancer Research after his grandparents, Mark and Janice Wilson, both died from the disease in 2010, and his mum, Paula Burton, was diagnosed with breast cancer last year, aged just 32.

The youngster, from Southend, goes to the TSG fight school in Westcliff, and at his first tournament with the club, held at the Riverside Centre in Chelmsford, he raised more than £350 for the charity.

Dad Michael Burton, 36, said the family was very proud of his efforts.

He said: “He has been kickboxing for about a year.

“Taylor is trying to get everyone involved. He is doing really well. I am very proud of him.”

Taylor’s future kickboxing fights will all be held in aid of Cancer Research UK.

Dan Turpin, from Cancer Research UK, said: “Taylor has been amazing and has made a huge difference to our research.

“We are just so grateful for their support, as 90 per cent of our donation are £10 or under, so what they raised is a testament to their hard work.”

Taylor is already busy arranging a second fundraising event at his gym.

He and some other youngsters will try to do 10,000 body kicks in one hour at the end of June.
