POLICE are appealing for information after four people were hit by a car outside a nightclub in the early hours of this morning.

One woman, from Southend, was taken to hospital after she and three other people were hit by the car outside Talk nightclub in Lucy Road, Southend, which then failed to stop.

The injured woman, who is from the Southend area, was released from hospital earlier today.

Four men have been arrested in connection with incident and two cars were seized for forensic examination.

Three of the men were arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving. They were a 21-year-old from Lambeth, South London, a 23-year-old from Ilford and a 26-year-old also from Ilford. A 22-year-old from Rainham was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and also with assault and assaulting a police officer. They are all currently in custody being interviewed by officers.
