ARMED police circled a car in Leigh following reports of a man with a gun.
They had been searching the area with the police helicopter after a gun was spotted in Long Road, Canvey at about 7.10pm.
Two boys, aged 17, were arrested in Grand Parade at about 8pm on suspicion of possession of an imitation firearm.
They remain in police custody.
