Fire at Ford test area in Dunton

A small fire broke out at the Ford Research Centre in Dunton on Saturday morning.

Firefighters from Basildon, Brentwood and Grays were called out at 11am to reports of a blaze in a testing pod at the site, just off West Mayne.

A sprinkler system had been activated by smoke from the flames, helping to extinguish part of the fire.

The area was sealed off while officers finished off putting out the fire which was done by 11.20am.

In that case it would be a good idea if airline operators were to replace the smoke detectors in the on board toilets with a sprinkler system. It would put a stop to the mile highers before they even consider an after sex ciggy.
