A TEENAGE boy has appeared in court in connection with a string of violent street robberies in Laindon.
The 16-year-old boy, from Lewisham is charged with robbing Debbie Savage of her handbag containing an iPhone 4, a Samsung Galaxy Ace, £80 and two bank cards worth £560 as she walked near Laindon Train Station on December 15.
The youth appeared at Basildon Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
However Magistrates imposed reporting restrictions on the hearing because he is under 18.
The restrictions ban the Echo from reporting his name and address.
Two other men, Daniel Jacobs, 26, of Mynchens, Basildon and Carl Willings, 43, of Pickwick Close, Laindon, have already appeared at Basildon Magistrates’ Court in connection with the muggings that happened in Laindon at the beginning of November.
The incidents saw robbers steal women’s handbags as they walked alone in the evening.
Jacobs, Willings and the 16-year-old youth have all be denied bail and will appear for a plea and case management hearing at Basildon Crown Court on December 15.
