A GRATEFUL husband has thanked a professional “ring finder” for unearthing his wedding band, which he lost only two months after tying the knot.

Newlywed Nigel Tyler, 58, said he felt his heart sink when he noticed the palladium ring was missing from his left hand.

He’d spent the day working on a raised flower bed in his garden, and was sure the ring was buried in the soil.

Mr Tyler, who lives in Katherine Road, Bowers Gifford, knew he would never find it on his own.

So the anxious husband, who got married to Karen, 53, in April, went onto the internet to inquire about hiring a metal detector.

But what he found was even better – a specialist ring-finding service, based in Brentwood.

And ring finder John Able came up trumps – he was able to locate the ring lying hidden under the soil in just ten minutes.

Mr Tyler said: “It was such a relief when he found the ring, it was fantastic.

“The ring was new and it’s a symbol of our union, so to lose it so soon after the wedding was terrible.

“It felt like really bad luck.

“Without the metal detector, it was like looking for a needle in a haystack.

“I would never have found it.”
