Two price hikes planned for Dartford Crossing (From Echo)

• "so on average there are 140.000 vehicles using the bridge alone since 2002 so even at £1 this is £140k per day ... so at £2.50 this is £350k per day .. Congestion at the Dartford Crossing is caused by the toll collection system, not alleviated by it. Congestion has tangibly increased since the new tolls were increased as more users need to wait for change. Everyone locally knows that no tolls would mean minimal congestion, not just on the approach, but the surrounding area."
