THIS man is suspected of breaking into a Leigh home and stealing a £6000 car.

The car was then sold to a scrap metal dealer - for just £250.

The break-in happened in Herschell Road between December 2 and December 5.

The crooks stole a Citroen Picasso parked on the driveway, as well as electrical goods and jewellery worth about £320.

If you recognise the man in the pictures, please contact PC Christian Forbes at Southend police station on 101.

Why would somebody need to 'remember' if they recognise somebody!

Another good reason for a change in the traditional cash payments made by scrap dealers. Payment in cash only on production of valid ID with a proper record of the transaction otherwise payment by bank transfer.

No cash whatsoever, a crooked scrap dealer will easily produce a crooked ID.
Why does someone who has their car stolen have to pay the police a fee for the car pound, I thought that was what you paid your taxes for. The police should send the car pound bill to the thief.

Storage charges - how kind of them.. shame they didn't just return it to the drive from where it had been removed.. on time handle most stolen/recovered vehicles - must be earning fortunes..

I walk down this road each day to get to Leigh station. It is a busy road that leads straight to Belfairs school from Leigh station if you walk up the steps outside it. It's on the Marine Estate. This particular road is one of the very few that allows parking all day. This attracts commuters who don't want to pay silly prices to park at the C2C car park. I see alot of different people walking up and down each day like school children who use this road to get to Belfairs so hopefully somebody saw something? having said that, I doubt it police are only now asking for public help ?

I am lost for words as to how angry it makes me that the police would charge an innocent victim! Whoever decided that would be a good idea should be castrated! This country is in many ways insane!

He looks like every other young lad that has passed by today?

Didn't the scrap dealer question why someone would accept £250 for a valuable car ... of course not!

Hey but if they did that how would organised crime flourish?

I happen to know this person and he's a **** does not surprise me one bit he would do this and pretty sure i know who would have been involved too. As for telling the police if you ring and cant get hold of them with no answer whats the point of asking if no one can tell you!
