    Closer to London, I’ve probably been threatened with a “knife” about 4 times when they’ve never actually produced it! I feel like saying well show me then! If they’ve not got one then you go for it! I’m sure a lot of the time they say they have one they don’t – they just know that half of the people out there will just hand over their belongings without a fight, just because of this threat. If you had a knife, why would you not produce it unless you’re in the middle of somewhere crowded? Most people don’t get mugged in the middle of a crowded place!"

Teenager robbed in Leigh street

A TEENAGER was robbed in a an alleyway in Leigh in broad daylight.

The 14-year-old was with two pals as they walke through the alley leading from Canvey Road to Harley Street.

He was approached by a robber who demanded he hand over his phone, wallet, and bag.

The crook then told him to keep running until he got to Leigh railway station.

Police are appealing for The suspect is described as 5ft 10in tall, teenage and of medium build. He was wearing a black hooded jumper, black gloves, black bottoms and a green/black hat which was pulled down over his face.

It happened at about 5pm on Friday.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or who has any information that could help officers with their investigation should contact PC Reece Brent at Southend Police Station on 101.
