ROCHFORD District Council is encouraging residents to put their gum in the bin, in a litter crackdown.
It highlighted its Bin It Your Way, campaign in Rayleigh town centre, with help from from street dancers.
It is working with the Chewing Gum Action Group, a national organisation designed to crack down on gum littering, for the campaign.
The move features heavy advertising, encouraging people to bin their gum, or be in line for an £80 fine for littering.
Keith Gordon, councillor responsible for the environment, said: “We want the residents of Rochford district to be proud of where they live which is why we raise awareness and proactively tackle this problem.”
