RESIDENTS have been putting their pedal power to the test in a string of back in the saddle events to promote cycling.
Events such as the king of the castle ride to Hadleigh Castle as well as the popular London to Southend bike ride have helped to encourage more people to enjoy the open air peddling experience with the elements rather than using bike machines in the gym.
Southend council’s executive councillor for transport and planning, Mark Flewitt said: “These activities arranged by Cycle Southend are a great way to motivate people to get out and get cycling.”
“They are just some of the many opportunities offered by Cycle Southend to boost cycling for the whole community. I hope as many people as possible will explore the cycling events, activities and assistance available.”
