Essex County Council education chief Stephen Castle promises Canvey will get a new vocational college (Nov 6).

This is to be built on the grounds of Castle View School, when the school moves to its new building in the grounds of Furtherwick School.

The new school will be called Castle View School.

Castle View, in the middle of Canvey town centre?

Surely not.

To obtain money to build the college, school land at Castle View will be sold to builders who wish to put 100 houses on the site. Mr Castle states planning permission will go in to Castle Point Council in the next 12 weeks.

If planning permission is granted, will the vocational college be built at the same time as the 100 houses? If not, why not?

Or do we have to wait another two to five years before the college will be built and opened?

Will the playing fields that are left at Castle View be built on with even more houses, in this green open space area?

These building applications on Canvey are going in at a very fast pace, after the local development plan and the core strategy documents were passed by the council last month, giving possible permission for 400 houses to be built at Canvey Village behind Cornelius Vermuyden School.

All of this and more is to happen without any extra infrastructure improvements to roads, drainage, water supplies and doctors surgeries.

As well as Castle Point Borough Council selling off land, we now have Essex County Council selling off our island.

Canvey has major problems with traffic chaos going on and off the island.

We cannot take any more house building.
