CONCORD Rangers boss Danny Cowley says whatever happens in his side’s remaining 14 games, they can be proud of the best season in the club’s history.

Heading into today’s mouth-watering trip to second-placed Wealdstone, the third-placed Beachboys are very healthily-placed for a Ryman Premier play-off place, and also have a league cup final date with Dulwich next month.

Cowley said: “Whatever happens now from here to the end of April – it’s been an unbelievable season for us.

“And we’re going to enjoy it because most of my players have come from Step Five football, and have played at grounds that are not always that romantic.

“They’ve had a hard slog to get here and the fact they are now competing at this level is something for us to enjoy.

“We’re sitting third in the Ryman Premier and heading to Wealdstone to play a massive game in front of potentially 800 people – we’ve got to enjoy that because for myself and my players that might be as good as it ever gets for us.”

Cowley continues to play down Concord’s chances of winning the title, explaining that he still feels it’s leaders Whitehawk’s to lose because they have points on the board ahead of a congested run-in for their rivals.

He’ll take his Concord side to a Stones side today who were held to a goalless draw at Thurrock on Wednesday.

Cowley – who watched that game at Ship Lane - says Wealdstone can’t be ruled out as potential champions because he feels they are the best side in the division on their day.

Cowley also said Suffolk big-hitters Lowestoft – who beat Met Police to move fourth on Wednesday – are also dark horses. The Trawler Boys have enough games in hand to overhaul Whitehawk, and Cowley says they have the squad depth to mount a serious tilt at the title.

Concord will give late fitness tests to central defender John Easterford (hamstring) and utility man James White (contact injury) after they were forced to come off in Tuesday’s 1-1 draw at Hampton. Both are rated as doubtful for today's match.
