Basildon United 2, Southend Manor 7
PETER DUDLEY at the Cohart Stadium

EDDIE Hart scored five goals as Southend Manor demolished their derby rivals Basildon United 7-2.

The former Canvey man gave Manor a seventh minute lead with a header after a pinpoint cross from Jamie Salmon.

But the Bees were level a minute later when Bertie Brayley followed up to score following Adam Seal's save.

It was 2-1 to Manor on 36 minutes when Terry Griffiths followed up his initial effort - which came back off the bar - to score from the rebound.

And four minutes after the restart it was 3-1 when Hart pounced on defensive hesitation to poke the ball under keeper Steve Brown.

Basildon got it back to 3-2 on 63 minutes when Seal made a good save, but Steve Ferguson reacted the quickest to put the ball into the empty net.

But Manor restored their two-goal advantage when Hart grabbed his hat trick on 73 minute with a 20 yard effort which went in off the post.

Basildon's Paul Shave was then sent off on 81 minutes for a second yellow and after this Manor added three more.

Mark Sisson got his name on the score sheet on 84 minutes, and then Hart got his fourth and fifth of the game on 85 and 90 minutes to make it an emphatic victory.

Great Wakering Rovers 2, Clapton 2

A LAST-minute goal from Richard Halle rescued a point for title-chasing Great Wakering at home to bottom-club Clapton on Saturday.

Danny Heale had given the hosts a second minute lead when he converted a cross from Dave Collins, but a goal from Danny Aggio four minutes before half-time sent the teams in level at the break.

Clapton took a 53rd minute lead through Dean Bouhu and looked to be holding on for only their third league win of the campaign until Halle struck at the death to earn his side a point.
