BARRY Corr wants Southend United to stand up and be counted when they host Bristol Rovers at Roots Hall tomorrow.

The Irish striker feels Blues have not been good enough in their last few games.

And he is determined to play a part in putting that right this weekend.

“We need to sort ourselves out and show what we can do,” said Corr, whose Shrimpers side have now not won in seven games.

“The second half at Rochdale wasn’t good enough and the last few games haven’t been either to be honest.

“I feel sorry for the fans and I’m as frustrated as them because I hate losing.

“But we have four games to go and, although the play-offs look unlikely now, we need to show pride and passion and put in four performances that everyone can be happy with between now and the end of the season.”

Defeat at Spotland during the week saw Blues slump to 12th in the table, seven points below the play-offs with just four matches to go.

However, Corr insists there is still plenty to play for, including trying to remain part of Phil Brown’s plans at Roots Hall.

“There are players here out of contract at the end of the season who will want to impress the manager, and that includes me,” said the 27-year-old, who scored his 12th goal of the season in the defeat at Rochdale.

“Those that the manager doesn’t want to keep will also want to do well to help them get new clubs so everyone has something to prove “And, above all else, we all want to stand up and be counted to get back to winning ways."

But that could be tricky against a Bristol Rovers side who have lost just one of their last six games.

“The new manager (John Ward) is well liked there and he’s done a good job,” said Corr.

“At the start of the season they were down the bottom for whatever reason but they’ve done well recently and will be a tough team to play.

“However, we will certainly be fired up for the game and making sure we get back to winning ways.”

Blues have no new injury concerns for the game but defender Luke Prosser (hip) and midfielder Matthew Lund (flu) will both face late fitness tests.

Bilel Mohsni is again unlikely to figure after not being named in the squad at the Rochdale on Wednesday.
