WE have all been buoyed by our last couple of performances and we now want to take that into the game at York City this weekend.

They’re another team currently fighting for survival towards the foot of the table and that makes it a difficult place for us to go at this stage of the season.

But, after playing so well in the 0-0 draw against Bristol Rovers and then winning at Aldershot Town on Tuesday night, everyone is in good spirits and looking forward to our final two matches.

We do still have an outside chance of making the play-offs and, even though it’s very unlikely we will make the top seven, all we can do is win our matches and make sure we end the season on a high.

We want to keep the positive feeling we currently have in the camp and then build on that from the start of next season.

Of course it’s disappointing not to be higher up the table this time around and, with the squad we have here, I personally feel we should be in a far better position.

We have the players and we’ve had the opportunities to be inside the top seven, but unfortunately it seems the season will end just a little bit too soon for us.

However, it was good for us to get our first win under the new manager at Aldershot and I’m sure he was very pleased too.

We should also have won against Bristol Rovers, but that was another positive performance and certainly better than some of the dire ones we’ve had at Roots Hall this season.

The players showed no fear and seemed to be playing with a bit of a freedom, which I thought suited them.

We’ve also seen players like Freddy Eastwood coming back into the team and he’s a real loveable character who we’re all pleased to see doing well again.

I think it’s been a big bonus and so has Barry Corr, who has also returned to the team and has had another lease of life.

There is a really good atmosphere in and around the dressing room now and that, combined with our last two performances, definitely bodes well for next season.

DAN'S GOT A GREAT FUTURE

DANIEL Bentley  has done well for us in the last couple of games and I have to say he’s the best goalkeeper I’ve ever seen at his age.

I think it’s helped him working with Paul Smith all season because he’s an experienced keeper who has had a super career and I think Dan has learned a lot from him.

He’s also worked alongside other experienced keepers like Glenn Morris and Steve Mildenhall during his time with Southend and he’s a very good professional.

But now the challenge for him is to build on these two clean sheets and keep doing well as he battles with Smudger for a place in the team both this season and next.
