SOUTHEND United striker Freddy Eastwood wants to continue his impressive start to the season with another strong showing at Chesterfield tomorrow.

The in-form has scored in his last two games to move up to seventh in the club’s all time list of goalscorers.

And the 29-year-old now wants to move up the list even further by hitting the back of the net against the Spireites.

“I want to do all I can to help Southend and it would be great to get even further up that list,” said Eastwood.

“I’ve got my confidence back now and that’s because I’m getting on the pitch again and I have a manager who wants me to play.

“Last year I didn’t have that and it was difficult.

“But I feel good again now, I’ve scored in my last two games and now I want to make it three this weekend.

“I remember scoring a hat-trick at Chesterfield before so I’d certainly take that again tomorrow and I think that would move me up to fifth in the list of goalscorers as well.”

Eastwood is again expected to partner Barry Corr up front at the Proact Stadium.

And he revealed the striking duo have yet to select who will penalties for the Shrimpers this season.

“I think whoever gets to the ball first out of Barry and I will get to take the penalties,” laughed Eastwood.

“We’ll have to see what happens but whoever takes it will be confident of scoring and the most important thing is just getting the right results for the team.

“Chesterfield are a good side but we’re above them in the table and we want that to be the same after Saturday’s game as well.”

Blues will continue their preparations at Leicester City’s training ground this afternoon before moving on to stay at the Eastwood Hotel, which boss Phil Brown hopes will prove to be a good omen for his rejuvenated striker.

“I think our hotel is part of Freddy’s empire but hopefully it’s a good sign and he can continue his good start,” said Brown.

“Freddy looks fit and fired up and he’s working hard like the rest of the team which is fantastic to see.”
