I’LL be having another late fitness test ahead of tomorrow’s game at Chesterfield and it’s obviously been a frustrating time for me.

I picked up the problem during training last week when I suddenly felt a sharp pain in my groin muscle.

I stopped straight away to stop it getting any worse but was unable to recover in time for the Northampton match.

I started running again on Tuesday but I would say I’m about 50/50 for the game at Chesterfield but if I do miss out then I shouldn’t be out for very long and it’s certainly not a long term injury.

I would be gutted if I do miss out on the game because Chesterfield are one of the teams being tipped for promotion and we want to show we’re capable of matching them.

We’ve won all three of our matches so far and confidence is so high that the games can’t come quickly enough for us.

Last weekend it was a pleasing performance and result against Northampton and we’re really starting to gel together nicely now.

Players coming in or coming off the bench are also making a contribution and proving we do have strength in depth despite us not having the biggest of squads.

It was unfortunate that Marc Laird picked up a knee injury during the Northampton game and it was also unfortunate for me that I had to become his carer.

I gave him a lift home which was fine but it was then that I suddenly discovered Marc must suffer from OCD and I had to do the hoovering because there were a few crumbs on the floor.

And I ended up having to do so much that I had to stay the night!

SORRY MRS CLARKSON

WHEN I first got in to the treatment room after my injury, I was refused treatment by our physio Ben Clarkson after upsetting his mum with what I wrote about Ben in last week’s column!

I would therefore like to take this opportunity to make a public apology to Mrs Clarkson.
