SOUTHEND United striker Barry Corr will be a man on a mission at Exeter City tomorrow.

Corr bagged just six goals in 37 appearances during an indifferent year long spell with the Grecians.

And is therefore eager to impress against his former side this weekend and fire the Shrimpers to a third successive victory.

“I don’t have anything against Exeter, there are a lot of nice people at the club but it would be nice to go back there, show I’m a good player and help us win the game,” said Corr, 28.

“It’s not a case of me wanting to put two fingers up at anyone there or anything like that but of course I want to do well on my return there.

“It wasn’t the best of times for me there, I got sent off in my first game and never really recovered from that.

“But I like their manager, Paul Tisdale and the director of football Steve Perryman so I wish them well for the season and really hope they do well, just not against us.”

Ninth placed Blues head in to the game on the back of two successive 3-0 victories and again look set to line-up in a 4-3-3- formation which will see Corr lining up as a lone striker.

The Irishman will have support from Kevan Hurst and Anthony Straker from the flanks but is now starting to feel more settled in his new role.

“The manager calls it a 4-3-3 but I think it’s more 4-5-1 and I’m having to change my game a bit but I don’t mind that,” said Corr.

“I’m running more in to the channels and I didn’t even know where they were last year.

“I thought the channel was what you went across to get to France but I’m happy to be doing a job for the team and making sure we’re winning is what matters most.

“From a selfish point of view I would like to have a few more goals but hopefully I can get on the score-sheet tomorrow to help us win the game.”

Victory would see the Shrimpers leap above sixth placed Exeter in the League Two standings.

And Corr is keen to start climbing up an incredibly tight league table.

“I’ve never known a league to be as close as this and I think it’s there for the taking so we want to go on a run and be the team to take things by the scruff of the neck,” said the striker.

“There’s no reason why we can’t be up there this year and I think we’ll start to be more consistent now too.”
