Jack Jones - taking nothing for granted against Old Haberdashers

JACK Jones insists London One North leaders Westcliff will take nothing for granted when they take on bottom of the table Old Haberdashers this weekend.

Haberdashers have triumphed just once in their 14 games so far this season.

But Jones is certain they will still provide Westcliff with a stern test.

“We don't tend to look at where teams are in the table as we all know anything can happen in rugby,” said Jones.

“We are expecting a good game against them too because taking away their position in the table they are a good side and they showed that with the away game earlier in the season.

“We will again need to execute our own game plan and focus on getting things right and staying on track.”

Westcliff also head in to the game having returned to the top of the table on the back of two straight wins.

Last weekend’s 27-15 win at Brentwood put Westcliff ahead of title rivals Eton Manor who were without a fixture due to the wet weather.

And Jones felt the victory was a significant step forward for his side.

“It was enormously important for us,” said the fly-half.

“We kicked off the New Year with a win and a bonus point and I think the game was as good as it could have been in those conditions really.

“I think we played them well and executed what we set out to do.

“Going top puts pressure on the teams below us to get the wins and I think it’s also good for our team morale.”

Southchurch Saddlebag says...

Another cracking interview from the Jones lad .
It was a similarly impressive verbal performance when I saw his father Pete leaving St Matthews Spritualist Church late Thursday evening .
An hours nude meditation had apparently been followed by an intense seance .
PJ informed me that he had sought the advice of the afterlife to find the best way to continue Westcliff's impressive run of current form .
" I had a decent chat with Nelson - Madiba to me and his friends , in there - he thought I reminded him of a slightly older Brian Ferry .
The great man , thats Nelson not me , said that if he were still alive today that he'd like nothing more than going with me to the Vine on a friday night , chatting up a couple of Doris's and then hitting the Black cat to pull a few shapes and maybe a funky chicken . Good to know the great mans still looking over me ....
I also had a very good chat with young Mr Grace from the TV series Are You Being Served . He told me that I look very youthful for a 46 year old , that i had done very well with my rugby career at Perpignon and that if he was still running Grace Brothers that I would be above Mr Lucas but slightly below Mr Humphries - now that would be a menswear 3 ball that would cover all bases ?
The final person I spoke to was Sean Connery " ........It was at this point I interjected and nformed Pete that Sean Connery was still alive but he chose to ignore me and continued " The first thing double o heaven said to me was that I'd have been an amazing James Bond , possibly the best , and that i should have taken over from him when he handed over the keys of the Aston Martin to upstart Roger Moore . Apparently I have all the attributes to serve her majestys secret service with distinction - the youthful looks , the animal magnetism to women of all ages ( if that age is between 50 and 85 ) , the fast car , the expert knowledge of guns and cocktails , the who dares wins attitude and last but not least the dyed hair . "
I then stopped Pete and said that was all very good but how is all this going to help Westlciff in the second half of the season in their pursuit of promotion to National 3 South ........ he did a double take at me and said
" Oh sh1t , I knew i had gone in there for something...... ....... but I did find out a lot about myself that I already knew " ....

The names Jones .... Pete Jones .
