Jamar Loza - impressed for Southend United against Oxford

NORWICH City’s under-21 manager Mark Robson is backing Jamar Loza to keep on shining for Southend United.

Loza starred during the Shrimpers’ 3-0 win against Oxford United on Monday night.

But Robson, who was in attendance at Roots Hall, was not surprised by the young striker’s fine full debut.

And he feels Loza could eventually end up playing in Norwich’s first team.

“Jamar has been on fire for us this season and he just needed that next challenge, which I’m delighted has got off to a good start,” said Robson.

“He’s an exciting prospect, he has real pace, two good feet and he likes the ball in behind or to his feet. He just needed to get out and get some games to hone his skills and get some experience under his belt.

“I’m confident he will continue to do well while he’s with Southend and long term, who knows?

“If he keeps on improving and impressing then he could well end up playing in the first team for us here.”

Robson has been working with Loza since coming to the club last November.

The former West Ham United and Charlton Athletic midfielder was immediately impressed by the speedy front-man.

And, after two indifferent loan spells, Robson is now delighted to see Loza getting his chance while working with Phil Brown.

“Jamar went to Coventry when their forwards were on fire and found it hard to get games at Leyton Orient too,” said Robson.

“It was through no fault of his own what happened but we’re delighted to see him playing at Southend and working with someone like Phil will be good for his game as well.

“Jamar’s confidence will be sky high after scoring and winning against Oxford and I’m certainly looking forward to seeing how he does in the games he has coming up.”
