WESTCLIFF skipper Ian Dartnell knows his team must triumph at Luton tomorrow to keep alive their London One North title aspirations.

Westcliff are currently second in the standings, just a point behind leaders Eton Manor with three games to go.

And Dartnell feels that makes another victory imperative against third placed Luton tomorrow.

“We need to get the result because games are running out for us to get back to the top of the league,” said Dartnell.

“Luton are third and they also still have to play Eton Manor as well so they will have a real say on who wins the league.

“Hopefully we can beat them tomorrow and then they can do us a favour by beating Eton Manor when they play them.

“It’s still very close but we will just focus on what we have to do and then hope everything else goes our way.”

Westcliff head in to the game this weekend full of confidence after thrashing Diss 105-5 in their last outing.

Dartnell feels the hardening pitches will again suit his side.

But he thinks this weekend’s encounter will be decided by the backs.

“We lost to Luton earlier on in the season and they have good backs but so do we so it’s going to be a good battle,” said Dartnell.

“Whoever edges that will win the game and we obviously hope that it’s going to be us.”
