SOPHIE Whiting scored a hat-trick as Billericay Town Ladies smashed 10-player Leverstock Green 6-0 at New Lodge.
Whiting gave the hosts the perfect start in the second minute when she lobbed the Leverstock goalkeeper after a long goal kick from Hollie Dimambro deflected off a defender.
And Whiting doubled the advantage two minutes later when she chipped the advancing keeper after being set up by Sally Appleton.
Leverstock re-organised their back four and their discipline saw Billericay getting caught off side on numerous occasions.
The visitors started to play the ball about well but with only 10 players Billericay were always able to use the extra player well and broke down Leverstock’s attacking play.
Billericay made it 3-0 in the 17th minute when Marie Barker won possession and put Appleton through to slot home the third goal.
But Leverstock didn’t give up and played some lovely football but could not stop Whiting completing her hat-trick in the 26th minute.
Sarah Bovington took a Billericay free-kick, the Leverstock defence were caught ball watching and Whiting knocked the ball past the keeper.
Barker made it 5-0 in the 41st minute when she volleyed home from the edge of the box after Nikki Dunsdon’s corner was cleared.
In the second half Leverstock retained the ball more and good goal keeping denied Billericay.
And it was not until the 61st minute that Billericay increased their lead when Barker forced a error in midfield and drove into the box beating the defenders and slotted the ball past the keeper.
Billericay created numerous further chances but could not increase their goal tally.
Manager Kim Coster was pleased with Billericay’s performance but was full of praise for Leverstock Green.
“They are a good team and if they had travelled with a full squad the result may have been different,” Coster said.
“I was also pleased with the quality of the goals we scored today. It was a good team performance.”
Billericay now face Barking at New Lodge tomorrow night in the Eastern Region Premier League before travelling to Leverstock next Sunday.
