FITZWIMARC School are celebrating smashing the championship record at the Castle Point & Rochford District Athletics Championships.

Pupils from the Rayleigh School amassed a staggering 232 points at the championships held at Melbourne Park, Chelmsford, beating the previous record by 22 points.

And the school’s head of PE Danny Cowley was full of praise for his young athletes, particularly the Year 11 pupils who signed off from the school in style.

Cowley said: “All students performed brilliantly, giving their very best for the team. Breaking the Castle Point & Rochford District points record is an apt way for our Year 11s to finish their FitzWimarc School sporting careers.”

The FitzWimarc team included: Sophie Wright, Adele Edmondson, Georgia Sullivan, Carys Brown, Aoife Howell, Shannon Oddy, Rhiann Lawless, Jody Birmingham, Maddie Evision, Jaz Warner, Niamh Tuohey, Ellis Spencer, Chloe Porter, Holly Perkins, Lauren McGrath, Megan Clark, Georgia McMaster, Elizabeth Hemmings, Jacob Nicholls, Harry Oldacre, Harrison King, Christian Brown, Jay Omokonjuola, Joe Hayes, Lewis Hall, Josh Johnson, Max Jones, Kareem Codabaccus, Matthew Van Lint, Matthew Seago, Scott Zimmer, Steven Haylock, Michael Shields, Jack Longhurst, Rhys Collings, Jamie Thwaites, Aaron Fishlock, Henry Darby, James Regan, Liam Davies, Kurtis Worship, Ross Dowdall, Miles Wheatley, Connor Maskell and Luke Houghton
