Casey Stoney lifts the women's FA Cup with Arsenal

CASEY Stoney got her hands on the Women’s FA Cup yesterday as Arsenal won the competition for a record 13th time.
England skipper Stoney, who grew up in Wickford, started at the heart of the defence for the Gunners as they beat Everton 2-0 in Milton Keynes.
Kelly Smith’s stunning free-kick gave Arsenal a first-half lead and they doubled their advantage after the re-start thanks to Yukari Kinga’s precise finish.
The win was a send-off for Arsenal manager Shelley Kerr, who shocked Stoney and her team-mates before yesterday’s game by announcing she was standing down.
Once the super-power of women’s football, Arsenal have seen other clubs come in and take their talent and their form has suffered on the pitch.
They are currently bottom of the Women’s Super League after four games, a run of form which prompted Kerr to quit.
