POLAND momentarily took over Southend on Sunday night in support of Leszek Krakowski.

The Basildon-based 28-year-old was one of the most supported fighters at the Talk nightclub.

And it was those fans who inspired Krakowski to an entertaining victory against Kester Mumba.

“I was happy with the win because my opponent was more experienced than me and I didn’t feel that great before the fight,” said Krakowski.

“I felt like it wasn’t going to be my dad but fortunately my fans were supporting me.

“My family and friends came over from Poland and I also have lots of friends from England and Moldova here.

“They all supported me and their presence gave me the power to win.”

Krakowski has now won all five of his fights and is keen to keep his good run of results going.

“I don’t want this to end any time soon,” said Krakowski.

“I train six times a week at TSG in Southend and have some experienced sparring partners like Walter Gahadza, Stav Economou and Tom Mabdanla who really help me. I actually have a week one now to relax but then I will be back with a bang.”

Krakowski was also keen to thank his sponsors, Polish Shop Basildon.
