Westcliff’s Mixed Firsts started their Premier Division season with a home victory against Eastwood Seconds.
Laura Whiteman and Kesh Naidoo won the first rubber for the away side and Kirsty Binstead with Aaron Weston doubled the lead.
But Nicola Waller with Lee Scott then Susan Compton and Michael Weingarten levelled the match.
Waller and Scott put Westcliff into a 3-2 lead, Adi Munro and James Allpress then extended the lead before Waller and Scott completed their maximum to put the match out of reach.
Binstead and Weston scored a third point for Eastwood and Crompton and Weingarten made the final result 6-3 in Westcliff’s favour.
In Mixed division Two, Eastwood’s Third string went to Hawkwell and came away with an 8-1 victory.
Debbie Moon with Gary Webb and Dawn Muggleton with Martin Rainbow recorded maximums, while Jackie Conlon and David Virgo had a brace.
Sophie Pearson and Jamie Cole won the point for Hawkwell.
RESULTS: Mixed Premier: Westcliff I 6 Eastwood II 3. Mixed 2: Hawkwell I 1 Eastwood III 8.
l The Southend and District Junior Badminton Association are running two tournaments.
