SOUTHEND United manager Phil Brown is considering shaking up his side for tomorrow’s clash with Exeter City at Roots Hall.

Barry Corr, Ryan Leonard, Jack Payne, David Worrall and Michael Timlin are all in contention for recalls against the Grecians.

And, after suffering two successive defeats, Brown feels it may be the right time to hand other players an opportunity to impress.

“There are a number of players who haven’t been regulars in the first team that have been banging at my door metaphorically speaking and this may be time for them now,” said Brown.

“Barry Corr, Jack Payne and Ryan Leonard helped us to get more opportunities after they came on at Luton last weekend and we had Michael Timlin and David Worrall who both came through our game with Ipswich Town in the week.

“They are definitely all in my thinking for tomorrow’s game.”

Worrall has yet to start a league match for the Shrimpers after signing from Rotherham United on the eve of the season.

The 24-year-old winger has made two starts in cup competitions and more substitute appearances than any other member of the Southend squad.

But Brown is now mulling over whether or not to hand him more of an opportunity to impress.

“Dave has played virtually all of his career at a higher but he hasn’t found himself getting a role in a Southend shirt yet,” said Brown.

“Once he gets one, I think he’ll stay in because he’s that type of player.

“He hasn’t settled in the area yet but if you’re not playing then I think it would be difficult to settle anywhere.

“He’s moved into a house in Rochford now so he’s living in the area and putting his two-penneth worth in as it were.

“Hopefully his two-penneth will be enough on Saturday if he gets a shout.”

Blues head in to tomorrow’s game sitting fifth in the table, while Exeter are down in 17th.

But Brown is expecting an entertaining game between the two teams.

“Exeter play a lot of good football and I think they will come with a game plan to try and play,” said the Blues chief.

“If that’s the case then fingers crossed it will be a good game of football and we can out on top.”
