DAN Burzotta suffered more stress outside the cage than in it on his return to MMA action at a packed Talk nightclub at the weekend.
The 39-year-old former captain of Great Britain’s Ji-Jitsu team came out of a 10 year long retirement to fight.
But his scheduled opponent changed three times before he eventually demolished Remijng Reblins.
“I absolutely loved it but I was stressed out trying to find someone to fight because they get on dropping out,” said Burzotta.
“It’s often the case when you have a good reputation that people will put their name down to fight you because it will give them a bit of exposure and publicity.
“But when it comes to squeaky bum time they don’t want to know and that’s what happened here.
“One pulled out because of a problem with his ear, one had toothache and I didn’t want to be left with nobody to fight having trained so hard in the build up.
“In the end, I fought Remijng and I have to honest and admit I’m disappointed he didn’t put up more than a fight.
“His record suggested he would be a good opponent but maybe I hurt him more than I realised.”
Burzotta’s victory raised the roof at the Southend venue.
And he has not ruled out taking on another fight.
“Everyone is asking me if it was a one off or if I’m going to be fighting again,” said Burzotta.
“I’m not saying anything about it at the moment though and I haven’t really made my mind up yet about it.”
Burzotta’s fight also completed a successful night for all those who train at his TSG gym in Westcliff.
“We had nine of our fighters in action and they all won,” said Burzotta.
“It was an awesome night and I’m really happy with how it all went.”
