MIKE Hales extended his unbeaten record by beating Marious Jarzabek on the judges’verdict, but was still left feeling unhappy.
The 19-year-old from Canvey Island was suffering with a chest infection in the build up to the bout.
And he felt that affected the level of his performance.
“It was good to win but I was disappointed with how I fought,” said Hales, who has now won all three of his professional fights.
“I had a chest infection which meant I didn’t have the level of the fitness I needed but I’m still happy that I was able to win.
“It’s the first time one of my fights has gone the distance and I’m sure I learnt a lot from it.”
The Canvey based Hales prepared for the fight by training at the SS8 gym on the Island as well as TSG.
And his coach Dan Burzotta was happy to see him come out on top.
“Mike’s fight was one of my favourites on the night,” said Burzotta.
“Fights aren’t always won by stylish knock outs and moves and Mike, who is still only a young lad, had to dig deep to win this one.
“He was in tears at the end because he wanted to have fought better but I think this will have done him good.”
