RYMAN PREMIER: East Thurrock United showed “real togetherness” to beat play-off chasing Enfield Town.
That was the view of manager John Coventry, who watched his side run out 2-0 winners on Tuesday thanks to goals from Sam Higgins and Reece Harris.
Rocks were without Ryan Sammons, Dave Bryant and Manny Osei, while Lewis Smith and Connor Witherspoon were taken off through illness and injury in the second half.
16-year-old Darren Phillips was brought on for the final 30 minutes, while under-17 midfielder Joe Paxman made his first start for the club.
And Coventry said it was a great effort from the players.
“I was really pleased with the result,” said the Rocks manager. “We have won three away games in a row now and are unbeaten in the league stretching all the way back to September.
“We showed a real togetherness that had been missing before. We needed to develop a bit more grit and I saw a bunch of players that refused to do anything but win.”
“To go 10 league games unbeaten is quite an achievement and even more so since we had such a limited squad on Tuesday.
“It was a very pleasing performance.”
