ARSENAL goalkeeper Josh Vickers has handed Concord Rangers a lift after agreeing to stay at the Conference South club until the end of the season.
The 19-year-old has been a revelation at the club this term, putting in a number of impressive performances between the sticks after coming in at the start of November.
A serious injury to number one stopper Jamie Butler, and subsequent injuries for on-loan keepers Aaron Lennox and Joe Wright meant centre-back Jack Lampe had to fill-in in goal on two occasions.
But Vickers, who lives in Noak Bridge and went to the Billericay High School, came in to steady the ship and has won a host of admirers.
And manager Danny Cowley said it was a big boost for the club.
“I am absolutely delighted,” said the Beach Boys chief. “Jamie Butler is invaluable to us so to have a goalkeeper of Josh's calibre come in was a godsend.
“He has been outstanding and already has the capabilities to be a football league goalkeeper. I just hope the exposure will be enough to give him the platform he needs to progress.
“He will be a professional at the highest level and I am pleased we have been able to help him.”
Vickers, who missed the 1-0 win over Staines Town last weekend’s will return for tomorrow’s FA Trophy clash at Hemel Hempstead Town.
