BILLERICAY Town have added six new players ahead of a busy end of season run-in.

Town could play as many as 18 games in the next eight weeks, should they make the finals of the Essex Senior Cup and Ryman League Cup, and manager Craig Edwards has acted decisively.

Former midfielder Josh Ekim, who came on as a second-half substitute in Saturday’s 3-0 loss at Maidstone United, has re-signed for the New Lodge team.

Ekim, 23, signs from Conference South side Staines Town with Billericay man Gerald Akosa going in the opposite direction.

They have also signed speedy winger Shameek Farrell, after League Two side Luton Town released him.

And Edwards was full of praise for the new youngsters.

“Shameek was tremendous in an in-house game for us recently. He hasn’t played for a year and I was a bit reluctant, but he has won me over.”

“He is two-footed, plays either side and he has an end product which makes a change to many of the wide players we have had over the years.”

He has also added Tariq Azil-Moore, a former Tottenham Hotspur scholar, French duo Dylan Langevin and Didier Garraway and a goalkeeper, Bishop’s Stortford Ross Kitteridge – who will play in tonight’s Essex Senior Cup semi-final as Joe Wright is cup-tied.
