SOUTHEND United winger Myles Weston will miss Saturday's game at Bury after being called up by Antigua.

Weston has flown to Florida for Antigua’s matches against a university side and a local MLS team.

And Blues boss Phil Brown has revealed the match at Gigg Lane was close to being rescheduled due to his side’s international call-ups.

“We were powerless to stop Myles heading to Florida with Antigua but at one stage we did think the game at Bury might have to be put back because of international call ups,” confirmed Brown.

“Ted Smith was put on standby for England and Jake Cassidy for Wales and if they had been called up then we would’ve had three players away which means the game would get postponed.

“But that never materialised and we will only be missing Myles for one game.”

Blues will also be missing winger Kevan Hurst who injured his hamstring against Cambridge United last weekend while centre-back Luke Prosser is sidelined with the concussion he suffered in the same game.
