SOUTHEND United manager Phil Brown has expressed his disappointment at Barry Corr's decision to join Cambridge.
The 30-year-old striker opted against remaining with the Shrimpers to sign for the U's.
And Brown admitted he was sad to see the Irishman leave.
“Of course we're disappointed to see Barry leave but he's been made a fantastic offer which he has chosen to accept,” said the Shrimpers chief.
“We made him an offer as well and so did another couple of clubs but he's served our football club fantastically and we wish him all the very best.
“I would personally like to thank him for his efforts during the two years I've had with him when he was top scorer in both seasons and it's a shame to see him leave.”
Howver, Brown admitted he had already spoken to a number of strikers he was now hoping to bring to the club.
“We would've needed to bring strikers in if Barry had stayed so there are four of five we're looking at,” said the Shrimpers chief.
“One of those is obviously Joe Pigott but when I'll get back in the country on Monday I'll be going hell for leather to make things happen.”
