QPR have made a third bid for Southend United goalkeeper Daniel Bentley which is currently being considered by the club.

The Echo understands the bid tabled for the Blues shot-stopper is for more than £1million.

Southend United manager Phil Brown has said he doesn't want to lose his number one but the Echo understands the decision now rests with his chairman Ron Martin and chief executive Steve Kavanagh.

As things stand, however, Bentley is still in line to start for Blues in their first home league game of the season against Walsall tomorrow.

Bentley, who came through the youth ranks at Roots Hall, has attracted interest from a number of Championship clubs this summer with Hull City and QPR both having had earlier bids rejected.

QPR's need for a new goalkeeper looks like increasing as Rob Green is on the verge of sealing a switch back to West Ham United.

R's manager Chris Ramsey has already stated this summer that Bentley is one of his top targets.
