Great Wakering Rovers 1–2 AFC Sudbury
From Burroughs Park
Ryman One North
GREAT Wakering Rovers were edged out by title favourites AFC Sudbury in a tight encounter at Burroughs Park.
Jay Nash had pulled Rovers level after they had fallen behind after just two minutes to Luke Callander’s early strike.
Manager Dan Trenkel was aware of the challenge facing his team, citing the challenge as the most difficult Rovers had faced so far this season.
And that appeared to be the case when they went behind after just 90 seconds. Callander burst through and finished with aplomb past Adam Seal between the posts.
But Nash brought the home side level with 30 minutes on the clock. The striker powered home a header to bring the team’s level.
The team’s exchanged chances but when the next goal came it proved to be the winning one.
A far post header from Craig Parker was enough to send Sudbury back home with the points, and to the top of the division.
Great Wakering Rovers: Seal, Pugsley, Kent, Sands (Trenkel), Vaughan, Hepburn, Ranger, Radley (Worrell), Cleaver (Johnson), Nash, Jacobs
