Sutton United 2–2 Concord Rangers
From the Borough Sports Ground
National League South
CONCORD Rangers secured a valuable point against Sutton United as they came back twice from losing positions.
The Beach Boys had fallen behind twice against Sutton but they hit back twice in quick succession to ensure they built on last Monday’s 2-1 win against Margate.
Strikes from Steve Cawley and Lewis Taaffe proved enough for the visitors to take a point in the encounter.
Although it looked bleak when Sutton took the lead right before the half-time whistle. Craig McAllister netted after an even first-half to send the Beach Boys into the break needing a response in the second-half.
But seven minutes after the break the away side had levelled the match. Cawley was played clean through and he made no mistake, five days after coming on and scoring the winner against Margate.
But five minutes later Adam Flanagan’s side were behind once again. Dan Spence slotted home composedly but 60 seconds later it was 2-2.
Cawley and Taaffe, who combined to such good effect last season, worked an opening and the latter prodded the ball past the despairing goalkeeper to hand Concord a deserved share of the spoils.
Concord Rangers: McNamara, Walker, Lee, Cornhill, King, Wood, Greenhalgh, White, Gardner, Cawley, Taaffe
