SOUTH Essex Gymnastic Club’s head coach Scott Hann has spoken of his pride after Brinn Bevan and Max Whitlock were both selected in Great Britain’s squad for the World Championships.

With Reiss Beckford having also been called up by Jamaica, the Basildon based club will have three of their gymnasts in action in Glasgow.

And Hann cannot wait to see them all compete.

“I’m massively proud, happy and excited,” said Hann.

“For us to have three gymnasts going to the World Championships is a great achievement and they have all worked so hard to make it happen.”

Bevan’s call up will see him compete at the senior World Championships for the first time in his career.

And Hann has been delighted by the progress the 18-year-old former Deanes School pupil has made this season.

“With it being Brinn’s first year as a senior I haven’t wanted to push him too much but he has just smashed every single trial he’s been in,” said Hann.

“He’s been fantastic and so was Max at the London Open when he scored a personal best score of 91.6 so he’s really looking forward to the World Championship just like we all are.

“Reiss will also be getting a chance to show what he can do and I couldn’t be happier for them all.”

Great Britain’s athletes will head off the National Training Centre in Lilleshall tomorrow and will spend six days preparing for the World Championships which get underway on Friday October 23.

More than 500 gymnasts from 80 countries will be taking part and success in Scotland can also guarantee selection for next summer’s Olympics in Rio.
