THURROCK suffered their first London One North defeat of the season, losing 42-34 to Old Priorians.

The reverse saw T’s slip to third in the table.

And their director of rugby Dean White felt it was a game they let go after some controversial refereeing decisions.

“This was a game we let go,” said White.

“At half time we were up and in control of the game but, after a very strange sin bin from the referee, came some very strange decisions and the game was turned.

“To be fair, Old P’s really stepped it up in the second half and our processes were not of the standard that we expect from ourselves.

“But, if at the start of the season you had said to me that we would have won five out of the first six games then I would have bitten your hand off.

“This is the best start to a league campaign in many years and our job is to keep going and keep improving now.”

Thurrock were initially on top on Saturday and tries from Tom Pool and Bradleigh Retigan plus conversions and two penalties from Tom Worsfold put them 20-14 ahead at half-time.

After the break, Alex Jones added another try before a strange 10 minute spell saw the visitors score three tries to suddenly lead 35-27.

The visitors then extended their lead with a try which followed an obvious knock on.

And, despite a late try from Jake Barrand, Thurrock were unable to get back into the game.
