A HOST of south Essex schools will head to Oxford tomorrow looking to excel in the English School’s Track and Field Cup final.
Held at the Horspath Stadium, six schools will held west bidding to bring home the coveted title of champions.
Junior boys teams from Woodlands School, Southend High School for Boys, King John School and Westcliff High School for Boys are gunning for top honours.
Southend High and Westcliff High will also face off in the inter boys competition.
In the girls category, Southend High School for Girls and Eastwood Academy are bidding to win in the junior girls category.
And Southend High will look to complete a double in the inter girls competition.
Schools from south Essex have set the benchmark in recent years with a spate of successful results.
Southend High have been the team to beat, scooping both titles in the girls category in Bedford last year. Eastwood School won the junior boys category, and Rayleigh’s FitzWimarc School won the inter boys - although neither will be competing in the competition this year.
