BASILDON United bid to respond to a first league setback of the season in the Essex Senior Cup tonight.
The Bees, who reached the quarter-finals of the competition last season, welcome Stanway Rovers, of the Thurlow Nunn Premier Division.
While Basildon have enjoyed an excellent start to the season, Stanway have struggled and find themselves 16th of 24 teams in the standings.
Southend Manor have underperformed so far this campaign, and find themselves third from bottom in the Essex Senior League after five matches.
A cup run could be the shot in the arm Stuart Marshall’s team needs, with a trip to Clacton on the cards.
Clacton sit 12th in the Thurlow Nunn Premier Division and have 13 points from 12 games so far this term.
Hullbridge Sports face a tough examination when they host Coggeshall Town.
Coggeshall have won eight of their 10 league fixtures so far and are second in the Thurlow Nunn Premier Division.
Sports were not in action at the weekend and will need to be at their best to progress into the third round.
