FEMI Akinwande scored an injury-time equaliser as Concord Rangers snatched a draw at high-flying Welling – having thrown away a two-goal advantage.

Concord had drawn six consecutive games in the National League South and were looking for a change in fortune against third-placed Welling.

It appeared as though it was going to be a backs to the wall afternoon for the Beach Boys early on, with Louis Wells excelling in goal.

Christian Nanetti and Jack Jebb were denied by the home stopper before Concord stunned the home crowd.

Amos Nasha continued his good form in front of goal to slot Concord ahead.

That didn’t dent Welling’s confidence and they remained the team on top. Joe Healy missed two golden opportunities to draw the Wings level.

Healy completed a hat-trick of misses when he misjudged a header from close range and it was a largely similar pattern in the second half.

Jebb saw an effort graze the crossbar in the first effort of the second 45 minutes, but Concord were proving clinical where their hosts were not.

On the hour, Kyron Farrell was played through and finished into the net to put the away side in dreamland.

Five minutes later, Welling halved the deficit and finally got the goal their play deserved.

Healy got the goal to leave the match in the balance before a crucial couple of minutes.

Seconds after Concord missed a chance to make it 3-1, the scores were level. Archie Johnson did excellently to leave Eli Phipps with a tap-in with 20 minutes still to play.

And the turnaround was complete five minutes from time. A deflected Phipps effort found the corner to put Welling back in front.

It looked as though that is how it was going to stay, but Concord were not done yet.

A defensive slip allowed substitute Akinwande to pounce and ensure a share of the spoils.
